Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal information is processed when you use Data Center Career Hub.

Data controller:

Data Center Career Hub is operated from Switzerland.

Depending on how you use the platform, we may process the following information.

Account information may include:

• email address;
• full name or first name;
• account identifier;
• account role;
• account creation information;
• country, when voluntarily provided;
• career stage;
• experience level;
• primary career interest;
• email marketing preference;
• onboarding status; and
• recent login information.

Member activity may include:

• resources you save;
• resource downloads;
• resource access activity; and
• access or entitlement information associated with your account.

If you voluntarily subscribe to communications, we may process:

• email address;
• first name;
• subscription source;
• opt-in status; and
• unsubscribe status where applicable.

We may also process application analytics such as:

• randomly generated session identifiers;
• traffic-source attribution;
• account identifiers on certain authenticated events;
• page or resource interactions;
• role or resource identifiers;
• tool usage events; and
• aggregate interaction counts.

The application does not intentionally collect payment-card information, government identification numbers, telephone numbers, dates of birth or precise location information.

Institutional inquiries:

If you submit an inquiry on the Educators & Institutions page, we process the details you provide: institution name, type, country and optional website; your name, professional email address and optional job title; and the inquiry type, volumes, formats, optional estimated quantity, intended educational use and message. Submitting an inquiry does not require or create an account.

Several Data Center Career Hub career-development tools operate using temporary browser state.

These currently include tools such as:

• Career Fit Self-Assessment;
• Skills Checklist;
• CV Checklist;
• Interview Preparation Workbook;
• STAR Answer Builder;
• Technical Interview Question Bank;
• First 90 Days Checklist; and
• Reader Action Plan.

Information entered into these tools is currently intended to remain within the active browser session and is not stored as permanent career-tool content in your account.

This includes free-text material such as interview notes, STAR responses, CV evidence, reflections and action-plan notes.

Limited non-content analytics may still be recorded, such as the tool used, normalized selections, item identifiers or aggregate completion counts.

Free-text career-tool entries are not intentionally included in those analytics.

Refreshing, leaving or closing a tool may therefore cause unsaved entries to be lost.

We process information where reasonably necessary to:

• create and manage user accounts;
• authenticate users;
• provide member-only resources;
• remember saved resources;
• provide download history;
• administer access permissions;
• operate and secure the platform;
• understand how platform features are used;
• improve resources and user experience;
• measure book QR and resource engagement;
• respond to user requests;
• evaluate and respond to institutional, educational and purchasing inquiries;
• maintain subscription preferences; and
• comply with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use Data Center Career Hub career tools to make automated employment decisions about users.

Data Center Career Hub currently supports email-based authentication and Google sign-in.

Email/password authentication, email verification, password reset, authentication tokens and related authentication infrastructure are provided through the Base44 platform.

If you choose Google sign-in, Google processes information necessary to authenticate you according to Google's own privacy practices.

Data Center Career Hub does not store your Google password.

Data Center Career Hub uses first-party application analytics to understand how the platform and its resources are used.

The current application does not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Hotjar or advertising analytics.

Analytics may include session identifiers, source attribution, resource interactions, page activity, normalized tool interactions and, for some authenticated activity, your user account identifier.

Analytics are used for platform operation, improvement and understanding resource engagement.

Free-text responses entered into career-development tools are not intentionally included in analytics events.

Analytics records associated with an account are deleted when that account is deleted through the self-service deletion process described in section 13.

The application currently uses limited browser storage for operational purposes.

This includes:

sessionStorage: a randomly generated session identifier used for first-party analytics during a browser-tab session.

localStorage: traffic-source attribution, such as identifying that a visit originated from a printed book QR code.

Authentication storage and related session technologies are managed by the Base44 platform.

Data Center Career Hub does not currently use advertising, remarketing or cross-site behavioral tracking technologies.

Because platform infrastructure may use technologies necessary for authentication, security and service delivery, technical details may change as the underlying platform evolves.

Data Center Career Hub relies on service providers where necessary to operate the platform.

Base44

Base44 provides application hosting, database services, authentication, backend functions, file storage and related platform infrastructure.

Personal information may therefore be processed through Base44 and its infrastructure or service providers where necessary to provide these services.

Google

Google acts as an authentication provider only when a user chooses Google sign-in.

External certification providers and other websites linked from Data Center Career Hub are not part of Data Center Career Hub. Following an external link may subject you to the external site's own privacy practices.

The platform is operated from Switzerland, while technology service providers and their infrastructure may process information in other countries.

Where personal information is disclosed internationally, applicable data-protection requirements concerning international transfers must be observed.

The precise infrastructure locations and subprocessors used by platform providers may change over time.

Data Center Career Hub only records marketing interest where a user actively opts in.

Marketing consent is optional and is not required to use the standard Career Hub account.

The platform does not currently operate a paid subscription service.

You may voluntarily provide your email address, and optionally your first name, to join the book launch list and receive email announcements about Breaking Into Data Centers and related Data Center Career Hub book announcements.

Joining the launch list is voluntary, does not create a Data Center Career Hub account and does not require one. The email address and optional first name are stored for that communication purpose only.

Launch-list subscribers can unsubscribe at any time. A marketing subscription and an account are separate records, except that self-service account deletion also removes a subscription record matching the account email address, where one exists.

If automated email preference or unsubscribe functionality is added in the future, that mechanism may also be used.

Submitting an institutional inquiry does not subscribe you to marketing communications or the book launch list. Contact details from an inquiry are used only to evaluate and respond to that inquiry.

Personal information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it is processed, including providing and administering accounts and resources, maintaining security and operational records, responding to requests and complying with applicable legal obligations.

Different categories of information may therefore be retained for different periods.

Institutional inquiries are kept while the inquiry is handled and for as long as needed for any resulting purchase, adoption or partnership discussion. They are not deleted automatically; inquiries no longer needed are reviewed and deleted manually. You may request deletion of your inquiry at any time by contacting us.

Data Center Career Hub does not currently promise a fixed retention period for every category of information.

Where you request deletion, information associated with your account will be reviewed and deleted or anonymized where appropriate and where continued retention is not required or otherwise permitted by applicable law.

Where a self-service account deletion is successfully completed, the account-associated information covered by that deletion workflow is removed, subject to any information that must lawfully be retained.

Depending on applicable data-protection law, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

Under Swiss data-protection law, these may include rights to request information about personal data being processed and to request correction or deletion where applicable.

You may contact us to:

• request information about personal data associated with you;
• request correction of inaccurate information;
• request deletion of personal information where applicable;
• withdraw optional marketing consent; or
• raise a privacy concern.

Account deletion is available directly in the application through Profile → Account Management → Delete account.

We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before disclosing, correcting or deleting account information.

Where practical, using the email address associated with your account can help us verify the request.

You can delete your Data Center Career Hub account through Profile → Account Management → Delete account.

Account deletion permanently removes your account and associated account data, including profile information, saved resources, download history, access records and analytics associated with your account.

If a marketing subscription exists using the same email address, that subscription is also removed.

You will be asked to confirm the deletion before it is processed.

Administrator accounts cannot currently use self-service deletion and should contact hello@datacentercareerhub.com for assistance.

If you cannot access your account, you may also request deletion by contacting hello@datacentercareerhub.com. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before acting on an email request.

Account deletion does not necessarily require deletion of information that must be retained for legitimate legal, security or operational reasons.

Data Center Career Hub uses access controls and application-level authorization intended to limit access to personal and protected information.

Protected member resources use authenticated access controls.

No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

We therefore do not make guarantees that exceed the technical and organizational safeguards actually available through the application and its service providers.

Data Center Career Hub accounts are intended for people aged 16 or older.

We do not intentionally provide accounts for children under 16.

The platform does not currently collect dates of birth.

If we become aware that an account belongs to a person under 16, we may take appropriate steps to restrict or remove the account and its associated personal information.

Data Center Career Hub contains links to external organizations, including certification providers and, when available, book retailers.

Those organizations operate independently and have their own privacy practices.

This Privacy Policy does not govern external websites.

This Privacy Policy may be updated when platform functionality, service providers or legal requirements change.

The effective date at the top identifies the current version.

Material changes may be communicated through the platform where appropriate.
