Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals validates foundational knowledge of cloud computing concepts and Microsoft Azure. The certification is earned through Exam AZ-900. The current AZ-900 exam measures three major areas: Cloud concepts. Azure architecture and services. Azure management and governance. Cloud concepts include cloud-computing models, shared responsibility, public/private/hybrid cloud, consumption-based models, cloud pricing, serverless computing, availability, scalability, reliability, security, governance and IaaS/PaaS/SaaS. Azure architecture and services include core architectural components, compute, networking, storage, identity, access and security. Management and governance includes cost management, governance and compliance, Azure Policy, resource management and deployment, monitoring and related Azure management tools.

Technology professionals seeking foundational understanding of cloud computing and Microsoft Azure. When It May Not Be Necessary

AZ-900 is not required for most hands-on data center roles. It does not validate server break/fix, rack deployment, structured cabling, electrical systems, cooling systems, critical-environment operations or other physical data center competencies. Professionals already experienced with Azure architecture and services may find the material too foundational.
