Overview
The Certified Network Cabling Design Professional (CNCDP) develops in-depth knowledge of structured network cabling design and implementation. The program covers copper and fiber infrastructure from standards and architecture through pathway design, material calculations, installation, testing, acceptance and ongoing cabling operations. Its data center coverage includes rack and patching architecture, resilient backbone routes, Top-of-Rack and End-of-Row concepts, Spine-and-Leaf environments and data center-specific structured cabling considerations.
What It Covers
CNCDP covers structured cabling standards, copper and fiber transmission, commercial and data center cabling architectures, horizontal cabling, backbone systems, patching, rack layouts and material calculations. It addresses ANSI/TIA-568 and pathway and space considerations, including trays, baskets, ladders, conduits, grounding and bonding, separation from power cabling and fire stopping. Data center topics include Top-of-Rack, End-of-Row and Spine-and-Leaf environments, resilient backbone routes, pre-terminated fiber and copper systems and data center documentation. The program also covers copper and fiber testing, fiber inspection and cleaning, loss-budget calculations, OTDR concepts, user acceptance, warranty programs, labeling, cabling administration, Automated Infrastructure Management, PoE considerations and relevant ANSI/TIA-942-C cabling updates.
